Dragoș CIOBANU

Dragoș Ciobanu is Professor of Computational Terminology and Machine Translation in the University of Vienna Centre for Translation Studies. He leads the HAITrans research group (Human and Artificial Intelligence in Translation – https://haitrans.univie.ac.at/) and investigates ways to improve localization workflows by integrating translation and speech technologies, as well as methods to optimise collaborative translation and training practices. He collaborates with Language Service Providers from around the world and trains linguists from International Organisations to maximize the use of language, localisation, and project management technologies.

Nadia FARCAȘ

Nadia Farcaș is the Quality Officer of the Romanian Language Department in DGT, European Commission. She graduated from the School of Modern Applied Languages, UBB, in Cluj-Napoca, after which she continued her studies with a Master's degree in Translation Studies and Terminology at the same university (the first generation to benefit from the EMT experience in Romania, in 2001). After working for 7 years as a freelance translator and interpreter in Romania (translating books and specialised texts, interpreting and subtitling, as well as taking part in the translation of the acquis communautaire to Romanian), she started working as a translator for the European institutions, first in Brussels in 2006, and later in Luxembourg, in 2011. Since 2012, she has been working first as a translators within the Romanian Language Department in DGT, and then, as of 2018, as a Quality Officer of the same department, coordinating quality assurance for both internal and external translations to Romanian.

Veronica DURBACĂ

Veronica Durbacă graduated from the Faculty of Law in Bucharest (2002) and the MA Programme in Translation, Terminology and Conference Interpretation of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Bucharest (2003). She worked as a freelance translator (2004-2006) and as a translator with the Council of the European Union (2006).

Since 2007, Veronica has been working as a lawyer-linguist with the Romanian Translation Unit, a part of the Directorate-General for Multilingualism of the Court of Justice of the European Union. She translates from French, English, Italian, Spanish, German and Polish into Romanian. She is currently also a Trados trainer for the Directorate-General for Multilingualism.

Luciana Sabina TCACIUC

Dr. Luciana Sabina Tcaciuc works as translator at the European Parliament in Luxembourg, in the Directorate General for Translation, where she carries out translation, revision, terminology, subtitling work, organises trainings and is the mentor of trainees. She graduated from the Faculty of Letters, English-French section of the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza University" of Iași. She has a Master's Degree in Translation and Interpreting of the same university, "A. I. Cuza" and holds a PhD in Translation from Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom. Her PhD thesis is entitled Translation Practices at the European Central Bank with Reference to Metaphors. Throughout her professional career, she has worked as researcher, university lecturer, interpreter and translator (including for various international organisations). She has published several articles on the following topics: translation studies, translating metaphors, economic translation, institutional translation.
